Description

The City of Bellaire is seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated Athletics Supervisor to lead the day-to-day operations of our youth sports programming. In this role, you will be working as the evening closing manager of the recreation center and occasionally required to work weekends depending on the programs. The ideal candidate will possess:

  • Youth sports expertise – Experience running leagues, scheduling games, coordinating referees, and creating a fun, organized environment.
  • Top-notch communication – Confidently engages with parents, coaches, and players to keep everyone informed.
  • Volunteer leadership – Skilled in recruiting, training, and managing volunteers for smooth operations.

RECREATION SUPERVISOR - ATHLETICS functions include but are not limited to the following:

  • Athletic Program Management:
    • Organize, implement, and oversee a diverse range of youth athletic programs.
    • Ensure compliance with league rules, regulations, and safety standards.
    • Foster positive relationships with parents, guardians, and community stakeholders, soliciting feedback and addressing concerns.
    • Conduct regular equipment inspections and facility walkthroughs to identify and address any potential hazards.
  • Budget Management and Administrative Support:
    • Develop and manage program budgets, including revenue generation, expenditure tracking, and financial reporting.
    • Seek opportunities for funding, sponsorships, and partnerships.
    • Prepare reports, evaluations, and other documentation as required.
  • Supervision and Collaboration:
    • Supervise part-time employees, contractors, and volunteers by assigning tasks, recruiting volunteers, managing inventory, coordinating training, and providing feedback.
    • Collaborate with other departments, community organizations, and event sponsors to coordinate and develop special events in a collaborative manner.
  • Additional Duties:
    • Regularly work evening and weekend shifts to provide oversight to athletic programs and recreation center closing tasks.
    • Support other areas of the Parks, Recreation, and Facilities department by assisting with special events and activities as assigned.
  • Contribute to the team effort by performing other related duties as assigned.

Work Schedule - Monday through Thursday, 12:00 -9:00 pm and Friday 9:00-5:00 pm, with occasional weekends.

Qualifications

Education and Experience – An equivalent combination of education, training and experience will be considered.

Education: Bachelor's Degree in a related field

Experience: 1-3 years of previous relevant work experience is required.

Supervisory: 1 year of previous supervisory experience is required.

Certifications/Licenses: Driver's License, First Aid/AED, Preferred - Certified Park & Recreational Professional
