Working both in an independent and team environment, the Mortgage Lender & Account Manager meet directly with applicants to review their mortgage needs, and analyze their credit, business plan and real estate.
While previous experience in mortgage or real estate services would be an asset, preference will be given to a dynamic, diverse candidate with strong business acumen, an ability to learn and interpret new concepts rapidly, and who is comfortable working in both an analytical and a client relations role. Full training and support to be successful in this role is provided.
Review new mortgage business including a client's: mortgage needs; business plans; current financial situation; credit history; credit worthiness; and, mortgage risk profile
Analyze the mortgage request using criteria to determine risk
Make credit decisions independently and manage the loans collaboratively: you will determine if an application is approved or declined, and work to manage loans with the team
Structure, negotiate and authorize mortgage details and conditions of the advance
Set the mortgage rate appropriate to market and risk
Research and evaluate residential and small commercial real estate values, using in office research and valuation methods as well as site visit assessments
Manage overdue accounts and work with clients to collect payments and solve problems
Use your communication and listening skills to work with clients and mortgage associates to create strong relationships
Generate new mortgage applications through established broker channels and referral sources
Your decision making skills - to make sound decisions once all the due diligence has been completed
Your negotiation skills - to adapt your offer and build consensus to arrive at a beneficial deal for all parties involved
Your research and analysis skills - to evaluate and inspect real estate for their value, and potential risks; to analyze the real estate market and local economic conditions
Your listening and communication skills - to interview and understand your client, their mortgage needs, their credit risks and benefits; communicate your decisions and requests clearly; work with clients to collect on overdue accounts; sell the company's services to the mortgage brokerage industry and to borrowers
Your drive to achieve - determined to create value for yourself, the client and the business by building business and making complete and careful credit decisions
Your drive to learn - about best practices in loan analysis and negotiation, appraising and risk management of a mortgage portfolio; to continuously push the limits of your abilities to create value for your career, your clients and the business
Your organizational abilities - to work on numerous files and with numerous clients and mortgage brokers at the same time
You should have some university and/or college equivalent experience. Driver's license and vehicle transportation required for in city site visits, and short out of town site assessments.
